You are correct it - I spoke to soon.
But doing a bit of searching I did find this website http://www.mmnt.net/db/0/0/212.12.27.180/dist/Total%20Commander/ which seems to have a lot of files (dates 2007-2010)? You need a password if you want to download something. Looks like some sort of mirror, bit peculiar.

You can find most tc plugins here
http://www.sac.sk/files.php?d=15&l=T
http://www.sac.sk/files.php?d=15&l=W
and
http://www.sac.sk/files.php?d=15
the problem is that they store a lot of utilities not just tc stuff, you'd need to browse thru a lot of data to find what you need.

I'd like to give my thoughts
1. Authors of plugins actively being developed/maintained should re-upload their work.
2. plugins from http://en.totalcmd.pl/ should be imported
3. Old plugins should be imported from http://www.sac.sk/files.php?d=15&l= (the web page has a description and it's easier to find tc related stuff as it's labeled Total Commander compared with the ftp).
Unfortunately en.totalcmd.pl has quite a few plugins missing, I was searching for ulister there and couldn't find it.

I would say it has most plugins missing.Unfortunately en.totalcmd.pl has quite a few plugins missing, I was searching for ulister there and couldn't find it.

Just because most plugin writers simply don't upload their plugins there (or site administration doesn't upload them), it is not an official site. But some old ones may be there...

I have a complete backup of all the plugins from totalcmd.net dated 27.10.2010, so this should cover the old abandoned plugins where the author isn't around to re-upload them. I have put them on plugins.ghisler.com here:
https://plugins.ghisler.com/oldplugins/
I downloaded them to check them all for viruses with VirusTotal (they should all be clean).

Sorry, it seems that Fileburst changed the default to "not list". I have added a .htaccess file with
options indexes
You may need to shift+click on the link to force a reload.

If I finish up with some not recovered files I'll ask him. I'm going through the list of missing files and by now I did not meet any which I was unable to restore.

Restoring of totalcmd.net is now complete. All the actual files are now back, except for one screenshot (TotalZAR; I'll contact its author for reuploading). I decided to not restore all of the older file versions, so if there are direct links on other web-sites they may not work. If there is a reason some of such files should be restored anyway, please, contact me. Also, tell me if you find something wrong with totalcmd.net itself (dead links, bad archives, wrong archive contents, etc.) There was much work to do, I could miss something.
To avoid similar problems in the future, the web-site now moved to a different hosting with better hardware, automatic backup feature and other improvements. If you cannot access the site, please, wait for DNS to update (or specify the new IP address in the hosts file: 204.93.210.161).
Thanks to everybody who helped to solve the problem. I hope, the taken measures will suffice to prevent such situations from happening again.
