How to get back write access to SD-Card on Android 4.4

Yes it is, using a new group of functions. I have already experimented with them, but not built them into TC yet because I don't have a real device to test it yet. It's not possible to simulate it with the Android emulator either.

Könnte natürlich sein, dass Motorola hier eine äußerst nette Anpassung vorgenommen hat. Die Gruppe media_rw finde ich allerdings nicht in der platform.xml bei WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE.

Hmm, dürfte eigentlich nicht gehen. Möglicherweise ist da bei einem Update eine alte platform.xml erhalten geblieben - das wäre in der Tat nett von Motorola.

No, actually the best solution is Towelroot with SDFix. If your firmware is too new, downgrade to 4.4.2 and use Towelroot.

But how to downgrade ?

I want to buy a
Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo (GT-I9301) which will belivered with 4.4.4. and want to use it without restrictions of limited write/delete and want to have it rooted.

The only site I found for Samsung diveces is
samsung-updates_com/device/ (sorry as new member I am not allowed to use links)
but without a version for the S3 Neo.

Any help is wellcome !

Mein wesentliches Problem ist nicht das rooten, sondern der downgrade von 4.4.4 nach 4.4.2.

Schliesslich habe ich was gefunden.
Build date soll 12.05.2014 sein, ich hoffe das klappt.

how is that possible that Total commander 2.5 works "Totally"
fine on my Moto G LTE running 4.4.4
(it can wirite/read/delete everything on external SD card),

while TC does not work,
as per this thread, on Samsung Galaxy Core running 4.4.2. On this phone Total Commander can create folders anywhere on external SD,
but it cannot copy or delete anything..

Neither phone is rooted.

Perhaps Motorola version of android gives more liberal permissions to the user apps? What is the difference exactly? Is is possible to replicate this situation for other phones?

sorry but still the same on galaxy s4...
there are 3 SD cards
1 internal memory of phone
2 external micro SD card
3 external micro SD card with R/W adnotation

I can transfer the files and for example change thier names only if I go through the 3rd... of course the files are in special folder on the external card and there is a info about erasing all the files from that folder if TC is uninstalled... so that beta is not working anything like before where I had only 2 SD cards displayed

Sorry, the new write functions are ONLY available in Android 5 Lollipop. The Galaxy S4 does not have this update, so it only allows you to write to the private Total Commander folder.

You have 4 options:
1. Use the preinstalled file manager if there is one, e.g. "My Documents" on Samsung.
2. Private directory, see above
3. Root your device and use the free tool sdfix from the play store to get back write access for all apps.
4. Wait for Android 5 Lollipop for your device. It will allow again to write to the external SD-Card, using a new function set.
