Well I really don't know. We should just try which approach is better. I just wanted to point to point out that there are popular wikis who are completely unlocked.okay, than perhaps we have a missunderstanding:
(ok I should have taken https://wiki.freitagsrunde.org/Hauptseite as a Wiki example Smile)
a) we do wanna have a complett TC Wiki or
b) a TC Wiki with a non-editable Startpage like Wikipedia Question
Anyone interested in a Total Commander Wiki?

OK, for the moment I will leave it unlocked - the need of an account here verfied via a valid e-mail address gives some additional protection, and the rollback feature should do the rest.

(One more reason IMHUO why a Wiki should be Accountless...)There is no user by the name "Sir silva". Check your spelling, or use the form below to create a new user account.
Hoecker sie sind raus!
This has to be fixed by ghisler, underscore doesn't seem to be accepted.
Accountless is good on Wikipedia because it's a general Wiki. TC Wiki is specialized in TC so why open it to the public and spammers? Having to login is not really hard work and it's always nice to see who changed what and not some anonymous IP.

I read in the wiki help that certain (formatting) html tags are allowed in MediaWiki. I just created an article and it works fine.
What do you think? Should we use HTML for formatting instead of the wiki syntax? The wiki syntax seems to be strange and limited.

Unfortunately underscores don't seem to be allowed by the MediaWiki software, sorry. Unfortunately I cannot find the place where it is refused, so all you can do is change your forum name here, or create an additional forum account and use this for the Wiki, sorry. This has to be fixed by ghisler, underscore doesn't seem to be accepted.

The problem with Wiki's
I haven't read the whole thread, so this could have been mentioned already...
The problem with Wiki's is that stuff can accidentally be deleted.
For some ungodly reason, we use a wiki in my group at work. I don't know why, no one likes it; especially our manager. Anyway, if 2 or 3 people are trying to edit the same page at the same time whoever saves lasts wins. All other changes are lost.

I found a page were the mediawiki syntax is explained in detail:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_edit_a_page
On this page links to other wikis (or wikis in other languages) are explained. It's something like:
Does anyone knows how to display these nice interlanguage links on the left side. It should work out of the box as I understood it, but it doesn't work for me. Or does it work only if the linked wiki exists

Thanks to everyone who is participating in this Wiki! I have now added a link from my support page on www.ghisler.com to the Wiki. I'm also performing daily backups to my own PC, which are backed up to external USB disks and CDs.

Should we establish some guidelines? For example Stance introduced the habit to end his articles with a "Back to <parent>", i think it is a good idea. If some more ideas are in your mind, then you could insert a separate section into the wiki about the guidelines.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!
