@petermad:
The database has just been updated [467b167/15.09.2013] (added all of the above plugins - thanks!), so they should all be fine now. Got some entries in mail too, so a total of 25 new items have been added to the IPD & 16 items to the checksum db.

Thanks to all of you contributing, still waiting for the unknown TC-related entries!

2914634511 F4Menu.exe F4Menu 0.5.9.0 - -1
2176658400 aF7.exe Alternative F7 1.0.0.0 - -1

F4Menu.exe is by Shanny - see: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=17003 - unfortuantely it doesn't seem to be available for download any longer, but perhaps you could add to the database that v. 0.59 is the latest version.

Af7.exe is by Sombra ( http://www.breto.net/totalcmd/archivos/Alternative_F7.zip ) - see: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=137846#137846

@Bluestar:
The database update is working fine now. Here, the database file is put beside the INI files which are in the Users branch.

About no write access for plugin installation: A note for the user would be fine. My advanced wish would be providing the option of going to the download directory in Total Commander. Then the user could install the previously downloaded updates manually from there.

And: Thanks for all those corrections, tweaks and more, e.g. your great user support. 8)

Bug: Window Position

Post by *Gerby »

Hello Bluestar!

Just encountered a small bug: TU (here 0.8ß5) doesn't remember its last window position after restart. However, the window size is restored.

Don't know why I haven't seen this earlier, because previous versions behave the same.

If this is not a bug but a feature, consider this posting as feature request. :wink:

Greetings

I am the one who says thanks for all of your tests, recommendations & help managing the project. I always wonder how awesome this community is - thank you guys. 8) It really means so much to me to see all those responses / bugreports / critics about TU. Just keep posting them. :)

Gerby, in the new version I put a dialog that should appear in case the app wasn't able to copy the files to their original place - would be glad if you could confirm it works too, for me it appears correctly (later I might need to add a new translation string for it too).

The window position isn't saved on exit on purpose: I prefer TC's behavior, so not to save the position of the window on exit, but when a special action happens (like when you click on Configuration-Save position). But since TU doesn't have a menubar (yet?), I decided to implement a little trick to still let the users save the window position:

Code: Select all

[17-02-2013] Total Updater 0.7 Beta 4

* New: Form position is saved by holding CTRL key while clicking on close button
So just keep pressing Ctrl while clicking on X, and its going to save its left/top positions as well. :D
From this B6 version you can also set [GUI] AlwaysSavePos=True so it is going to save it all the time without using this trick.
My advanced wish would be providing the option of going to the download directory in Total Commander.
This is also available since a few versions - just double-click on the iteme in the list after its successfully downloaded, and then its going to jump on it in TC / explorer (in case TC is closed). Ctrl + PageDown & Ctrl + Up hotkeys are now also supported in Download dialog as well to achieve this effect.

Bluestar

The position saving is working fine, both the Ctrl method and the INI permanent method. Thanks for that one. Just a small discrepancy: The program window's dimensions are (and already were) always saved, independently from the position saving.

For the DB:
2782114364 wlx_pdbView.wlx PdbView 1.0.0.0 - -1
This can be found here:

New DB update [481b176/19.09.2013] is up - added all of the entries reported above, thanks to all of you! :)

@damjang, @CJ Flash:
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. =)

@Gerby:
Thanks 4 confirming its working. Actually its really a bit contradiction to each other, but I decided to make it this way because resizing a window is a much infrequent action than moving it to another position (even accidentally / temporarily, to see another window etc) - plus what I forgot to mention is that by default TotalUpdater tries to position itself to the center of the currently running instance of Total Commander, then (if not found/iconized) it starts in the center of the current screen, if its position hasn't been saved by the user yet.

@Bluestar

Thank you -- Beta-6 is working fine (Win7-x86 + TotalCmd 8.50 Beta 3, as well as Win7-x64 + TotalCmd 8.01). Even found now an update for the old dbxplug.wcx, that was missed in the previous versions (at least in Beta-3 and earlier). :)

Ah, that makes sense. :)

Two remarks about the "Download file(s)" dialog:
  • If I press Ctrl-Up for an entry, not only the new tab in TC shows the package contents, but also the initial one. Thus, both tabs show the same. I think, only the new tab should show the contents of the package. Don't know if this is an issue with TC (8.50ß3).
  • It would be nice to have the possibility just to open the download directory in TC. IMO an additional button "Open directory" could do it. There's no keyboard shortcut coming to my mind spontaneously.

How is the configuration option 'Load all files from the "plugins" directory (not just the installed ones)' supposed to work?

Because, if i want to use that option, it does not show any installed plug-ins in the Update tab.

Btw, I am using the current TU 0.8b6.

PeterMad reported on the issue already in February (link to his post), but i haven't found any further information regarding it.

Otherwise, this looks like an awesome little tool :D
