I see. I overread that the first time.

However, i head a quick look on http://www.totalcmd.net/directory/content.html to find a content plugin which provides the general File Comment, but the only available seems to use the NTFS File comment.

The normal file content is handled by TC directly. How to tackle this?

thanks for this cool plugin.

I installed it because i'm in the search of something which i'd describe as "Search in Columns".

Is there any possibility to search in columns different form Filename-column?

especially searching in the comments column (if activated) would be a handy feature.

I know theres the possibility to filter with Ctrl+F12. But filtering for a searchstring in the file comment (or any other column provided by TC direclty or any Content Plugin) requires manually creating a filter...
This is a tedious work and actually it spams the list of filters... i might just search for a specific substring in Comments once and then never again...

Any chance getting such a feature with QuickSearch Extended?

If you want to use wdx inside QuickSearch Extended you can acheive what you ask (but you will have to redefine in QuickSearch Extended all your column, for on demand column the result can be different and/or time consuming).
if you would like to hightlight a column and seach in it, you should ask for a new TC feature !

You could try to use a regex expression like "[a-z]+".
I am not sure if it will work.

It doesn't seem to work. It's ok though, it wasn't that important, I was just curious. I'm already satsfied with the current features set.

CommentsWDX is a WDX-Plugin for TC providing the file comment for custom columns.

You may also use WDX-provided-content in QuickSearch eXtended to search in them. See the readme how to include WDX-Plugins in the search.

Short info: my plugin just reads descript.ion files. Total Commander works in similar way but does not "share" results.

There is one difference between your plugin and TC: comments.wdx does not ignore casing of a file name. If descript.ion contains an entry for "file.name", unlike TC, it won't show anything for file named "File.name".
