I will test this very soon. Can I just backup and delete my ini file from the program directory and restart? Will that regenerate the default startup ini again? I never backed up the original vanilla ini file from first installing, so this is the only way I have of going back to the original without destroying everything.petermad wrote: 2023-11-12, 10:06 UTC 2DRP535
What if you start TC with a clean ini file and switch to dark mode - does it work then?

No need to touch wincmd.ini at all. Just launch TC viaUse totalcmd64.exe for TC 64-bit. This will force TC to use a different INI file, and all will be back to the things they were when you start TC normally.

Re: Dark Help for TC 11.02 - Updated November 9th 2023
totalcmd.exe /i="%TEMP%\fresh.ini" doesn't work under Windows x86. Just says invalid file trying to run that command. So I just deleted the INI file entirely and ran TC with a new basic default INI instead. If I do that, then switch manually to Dark mode and press F1, then it works and the help window comes up dark like its supposed to.
So that narrows the problem down to something in my INI file. Where do I start looking?

What happens if you use the internal English language instead of your customized English language?DRP535 wrote: 2023-11-21, 07:14 UTC So that narrows the problem down to something in my INI file. Where do I start looking?
Re: Dark Help for TC 11.02 - Updated November 9th 2023
Then you must somehow have deleted your TEMP environment variable. What happens if you in TC's command line write: cd %TEMP% and what happens if you do the same in a command prompt window? Or what output do you get when you in a command prompt window type: set TEMP ?totalcmd.exe /i="%TEMP%\fresh.ini" doesn't work under Windows x86

The command I gave must be issued inside TC's program directory. I agree with white in regards to the INI and language files.

Re: Dark Help for TC 11.02 - Updated November 9th 2023
Then it works fine as designed. I get the dark help background in F1. So it would seem that Darkhelp is not compatible with a customised language file in x86 version. I have to choose between having an F7 menu button with correct spelling on the label, or a working Darkhelp, but I can't have both.
Re: Dark Help for TC 11.02 - Updated November 9th 2023
You mentioned repeatedly that it does not work in the x86 version. Does that mean it does work in the 64-bit version? Or that you only work with the x86 version?DRP535 wrote: 2023-11-21, 23:30 UTC Then it works fine as designed. I get the dark help background in F1. What are the filenames of your customized language files and what are the filenames of all the *.chm files in the program folder and LANGUAGE folder?

Maybe you could show us your wincmd.ini file - the [Configuration }section should do to begin with.
It works fine here with a customized English language file ALSO under TC 32bit - I have also tested it under Windows XP x86.So it would seem that Darkhelp is not compatible with a customised language file in x86 version.

I think DRP535 is using Windows XP 32bit ( see: viewtopic.php?p=444830#p444830 ) - so no option of testing 64bit TC.Does that mean it does work in the 64-bit version?

Thanks, I read that that's his backup computer and that it works fine on his W7 64-bit machine.petermad wrote: 2023-11-22, 00:23 UTC I think DRP535 is using Windows XP 32bit ( see: viewtopic.php?p=444830#p444830 ) - so no option of testing 64bit TC.

DRP535 wrote: 2023-11-11, 03:56 UTC Thanks for this, works great. On my backup computer running XP 32bit though, the TC installed there only picks up the original native CHM file and displays that rather than the new 11.02 one. When I press F1 there and look at What's new in this version I'm reading about the latest updates to v9.50. Something is obviously not set right in the configuration to point TC to use the new v11.02 help file.
It seems like an old help file of version 9.50 is opened while he has installed version 11.02.DRP535 wrote: 2023-11-11, 05:26 UTC Thank you. Still perplexed as to why I still don't get a dark help screen in TC XP 32bit though, when it works perfectly in W7 64bit.
Is there a compatibility problem with this plug-in and it working in TC 32bit environment under Windows XP? Using 11.02 final 32bit version just for clarity.
Re: Dark Help for TC 11.02 - Updated November 9th 2023
Correct. x64 works perfectly. Identical configurations (as close as is possible) in side by side installations. 1 x x86 in XP, the other x64 in W7 Ultimatewhite wrote: 2023-11-22, 00:09 UTCYou mentioned repeatedly that it does not work in the x86 version. I use both, on different computers side by side.Or that you only work with the x86 version?
