Bug: The RegEx is obviously implemented with multiline search activated by default:
(.+) finds the complete content.

\r\n seems to find line breaks, but they are not marked.

Annoyance/Request:
The search progress box should not be displayed directly after pressing Search, but only after some interval without a match has passed, to prevent flickering.

Alternatively it could be replaced with something less offensive, like a progress update in status bar.

Also I would prefer to have the Find dialog always visible.

P.S.: @Clo:
That's the refrain from song "Bettina" of German band "Fettes Brot". Second line means "Please put on some clothes".

If that is implementet I would prefer that the position of the dialog is remembered, so I can put it in a place thats not in the way.

Like Plainedit ?

Post by *Clo »

2petermad

:) Hello Peter !

• Maybe icfu means as a kind of “dock” like in Plainedit editor ? That can be hidden, of course…

Nope, I mean a permanently visible (while searching) and movable search box, like it's standard even in tiny notepad replacements.

A dock would probably be overkill for UV. Also the dock like implemented in PlainEdit sucks huge donkey balls because it eats vertical space while it should be better attached left or right.

Anyway, I would still prefer a box over a horizontal dock, because I can move it out of sight without losing track.

they are not shown. They 're shown in Hex/Binary modes, and marked there OK. In Text they cannot be shown..

Added.
That window appears with trancluency (from 0 to 255).

That would be much work: redesign dialog, add "Find next", "Find previous" buttons, add progressbar into window... etc
Don't know

All pages…

:) Hello Alexeï !
Confirmed; how to change this: does PCRE have this option? Need to ask…
• When translating the RegEx chapter in the Help, we found out THAT SITE, it seems to have the most complete info
about PCRE, since some original pages @Cambridge U. have been re¦moved•renamed and are nowhere to be found
following the links in your original RegEx chapter.
- Hoping that helps…
Citation:

they are not shown. They 're shown in Hex/Binary modes, and marked there OK. In Text they cannot be shown…
• Most certainly, that's not when searching, but the line breaks are shown in text with Notepad2 like one can see
ON THAT IMAGE with the small red curly arrow… ?

@Clo: Open a big file and search for non-existing string.

@Alextp:
Looks neat, very good idea! :)

@Clo: Open a big file and search for non-existing string.
• Thanks, but I get the usual message "String not found" or so immediately (I test in French).
• Would you have a pattern, and options to tick, please ? But don't waste time too much,
I have rarely to search in huge text files… 8) except the TC-History…
