Yes I do know how you feel even via our personal email exchanges.

One thing though. If you think it's "bad" to be over-passionate about football it might be equally "bad" to be overly-non-passionate about it either! ;)

Thanks for the good words! We had (have) the support of all Germany not just Otto's anyway! :D

An other Program similar to TC is Krusader, but in opposion to all the other software in this thread, Krusader is a KDE Programm (successfuly tested on Linux, BSD, Solaris and recently even MacOS-X (*) ). I just want to add it here because there have been many requests for an TC for Linux so I think that there is also a great interest in non-windows software.

Today we released Krusader-1.50, which includes a lot of cool stuff (such as a unified action-system (old german TC-forum users may remember this thread), a third panel, panel-profiles, to just name a few.)

Krusader is free and open-source software, coverd by the GNU GPL
http://krusader.sourceforge.net/

--
*) basicly it should be possible to make krusader run on win32, either using X11/cygwin or nativly with KDElibs/win32, but nobody tried it yet. If there is a voluteer, he can count on our support

Nice program indeed, I'm using it too when on Linux! Unfortunately the Windows version of TC already takes 100% of my time...

But that still leaves you 10% for a Linux version, or don't you give it 110%? :p

ghisler is right. Total Commander for Windows needs 100% of his time. Seeing that the "unified action-system" has find its' way into Krusader but not into Total Commander for Windows I feel like that more people needs to be involved into developing Total Commander for Windows.

FAR manager!

Post by *White Wind »

FAR manager is good file manager for Win32, but it has console interface(similar to NC).
It has some useful features: keyboard macroses and General plugins.
General plugins is thing that make FAR much better than TC - there are plugins such as CopyEx, that greatly enhances FAR functionality using neither Packer plugins nor FS plugins.
And one small, but annoying thing: TC while F5/F6 does not create folders.
(But I'm using TC 99% time, because TC - rulezzz)

Sorry, this is a bit off-topic! :P

Wow, Servant Salamander looks quite fresh these days! In my opinion it's even better looking than TC...

I really like these things about SS:

+ nice & clean GUI
+ standard draggable & lockable Windows toolbars
+ very good overview in the configuration
+ function key button labels change when CTRL or ALT is pressed
+ the look of the lists of packers, associations and viewers
+ the ALT-F1 / F2 menu's!
+ ability to browse the Windows registry
+ built-in undelete

Hm, SS should definitely be checked out, TC might learn something!

I do miss configurable keyboard shortcuts though, so it ain't TC. :)

Undo action

Btw, if you find a feature in other file managers which you would like to see in Total Commander, let me know! Tabs are ...
...implemented.

So! Undo action(s) for deleting, copy, move or rename, even from rename tool is a feature interesting. Don't you think?

BTW, I dont want answer. I want action!
Or maybe a plugins...

Best wishes,
Eugen

FileCommander. Licence under GPL(development state: alpha)
"File management program similar to well known Total Commander for Windows based on multiplatform framework. Consists of two panel display with support of Total Commander plugins."
http://sourceforge.net/projects/filecommander/
http://development.isshou.org/

If the developer make a release some day then we will have a real-real TC clone. But maybe it will change a lot in the development path then...
Probablemente no
