Test icons etc

Post by *Clo »

—> Alextp et alter

:) Hello !

• I've drawn a tool-bar strip of bitmaps, in order to test. It's similar to the “Standard” 24² one
released with the programme, so W=2,016 - H=24 - 84 motives.
- You can get it to test HERE
- To add icons in the bar with the dialogue works. But for “User n…” the icons are not in the strip,
so I can't undestand how to set them ?
- I've such matching bitmaps¦icons, though…

- In the Free version, the used bitmap set in the Options is not saved,
when I exit¦restart, I get again the 16² built in thingies…

- The French language is updated, we'll put it online a.s.a.p.,
because some issues with the new Help pages (and health… :( )

The link doesn't work for me.

The icons for your user tools is added to the end of the strip that you get when you use the (Save template...) function. If you add new user tools after having changed to a custom bitmap strip, then UV seems to add the icons for those new tools in the right size by itself.
In the Free version, the used bitmap set in the Options is not saved,
It works OK here (Viewer.exe, 1.740.288 b, 19-03-2008, 01:07)

:) Hello Peter !

• I've tested the link, it works. Please, try THIS ONE.
…The icons for your user tools is added to the end of the strip…
- I don't see how the programme could know where are my icons for “users”…
- It seems we miss a feature to add any separate icon (*.ico or *.BMP)
(like in XnView for command-icons which are not on the strip). We miss too a text giving the right order of the icons
very clearly. Currently, the last icon #84 (starting from "1") is nowhere to be found from the config. dialogue…
It works OK here (Viewer.exe, 1.740.288 b, 19-03-2008, 01:07)
- I checked again at this moment, same EXE, date etc., nope ! It works when you set it in the Options,
but it's not saved at the second use, the 16² default always comes back :|
- I added already by hand in the INI :
[Options]
Icons=Clo 24x24

It does nothing.

Well, doesn't it take the icons from the program files of your user tools? - or what exactly do you mean by "users"? - I am talking about the program icons that you can add to the toolbar bye the means of "Options" -> "Configure user tools..."
but it's not saved at the second use,
I testet it again here - still no problems saving the chosen icon file and having it being used upon start of UV the next time.

Solved but---

Post by *Clo »

2petermad

:) Hello !

• Saving is solved (due to an old INI, Paul found it has two [Options] sections, don't ask me why, I didn't add that myself !).

• I meant that whether I don't like the original icon of a user's tool,
I don't see how to set another (like we can do in TC, for instance…).

- I've polished up a bit my icons bitmap, and included it in the French package that's updated and available online now.

Bug with IJL15.DLL

Post by *Clo »

2Alextp

:) Hello Alexeï !

• Using the <IJL15.DLL> JPEG library, some JPG 8 BPP 255 grey hues are displayed as a spraying of colours…
• Sample available HERE- That works normally when <IJL15.DLL> is disabled, though…
- Greyscale JPGs 24 BPP work with that library.

I see what you mean - It should be configurable in the "User tools properties" dialog.
Using the <IJL15.DLL> JPEG library, some JPG 8 BPP 255 grey hues are displayed as a spraying of colours…
• Sample available HERE
Confirmed!

But your picture works with this version of ijl15.dll: http://progman13.totalcmd.net/downloads/ijl15.dll.zip which apparantly also is newer - found here: http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/sgviewer.html so I guess it is free to use.

Tested here :

The two DLLs (ijl15.dl 352256 bytes - 30/05/01 and ijl15.dll 372736 bytes 06/07/2003) are working fine with SGVIEWER ! :)

But with Universal Viewer 255 grey hues are always displayed as a spraying of colours when using the two versions ijl15.dll enabled ! :(

So it seems that the bad display is due to Universal Viewer !

You are right, I had forgotton to turn the option for using ijl15.dll on again, when I replaced the ijl15.dll file

They both don't work with UV for that type of file, and I can also confirm that they both do work in SGViewer.

Exif ?

Post by *Clo »

2petermad

:) Hello Peter !

• I'm wondering whether the error in UV is (perhaps) caused by the Exif data of that sample ?

- When you convert any JPG (without Exif) into 8 BPP - 255 grey hues, the image is displayed properly…
- Just a thought.

I don't think so, because if you save this picture without EXIF info in most programs, fx with IrfanView, XnView or Imagine, then it still isn't shown correct in UV.

Without is OK

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello Peter !

• I removed all metadata from that sample in XnView (Edit Menu >> Metadata >> Remove All Metadata) and saved it.
- It contains not only Exif data, but also XMP and IPTC ones… plus an embedded thumb nail !
- Then, its size is only 30,403 Bytes, and it works OK in UV with the <IJL15.DLL> library (Free and Pro versions).
• It works too when I remove the embedded Exif thumb nail only !
- So, we could say that the programme doesn't manage it correctly with that library…

There is no possibility to change icon for usertool...

When I open an UTF-16 file with BOM (FF FE) (e.g. vista ini-files) in TCs embedded viewer, it switches automatically to Unicode mode. UV instead remains in single byte text mode. If I switch manually to Unicode, the BOM is shown as bullet, that's not correct too, the BOM (Byte Order Mark) is a non visible, non spacing character.
