Great plugin! Thanks, Mr. Lefteous :P

Quick question, is it possible to show the total size of marked files+dirs at footer? By "marked", I mean marked by mouse, or Ctrl+A. It shows like this now: 0 b / 0 b in 0 / 0 files, 3 /9 dir(s).

By the way, if I delete [=tc.size] column, the footer shows "0 b" even files+dirs are marked by SPACE key.

Thanks in advance :D

I'm sorry but there is currently no way to do this. This would require changes in Total Commander. Maybe we see some improvements in Total Commander 7.0.

What should happen if a directory is empty (or just empty files)? From my point of view 100 should be returned to indicate no space is saved although I know it's mathematically not correct. What do you think?

Hi there Lefteous!

Thank for your great plugin DirSizeCalc!
I have a question concerning the formating within the folder view:

Is it possible to to display "byte, kilobyte, MB & GB" instead of "b, k, M & G"?
I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks.

Alt+Shift+Enter support

Post by *Avalon »

Hi,

Great plugin. I use the on demand feature of DirSizeCalc pluging and wondered if it was possible to just like TC does when you press Alt+Shift+Enter to calculated the size for all directories. Is that possible?

No "on demand" for all files and folders at once is not supported at the moment. Please note that is a limitation of Total Commander. I hope it's on the todo list for TC 7.0.

OK, I am really looking forward to TC 7.

How come that in TC when you sort on the size column it only sort the files on filesize and not the directories. Even if it knows and displays all the sizes of each directory. I thought it would be really handy if it would also sort on directory size then you can easily see which directory takes most of my precious harddisk space and trim it accordingly. Is this also a limitation of Total Commander?

No this should work but if you have previously invoked the size calculation. That means you have to push SPACE for all directories to be sorted for "on demand" columns. For "background" columns it works automatically.
Caution! The sorting is done in foreground by Total Commander. Changing to a huge directory with sorting set to size column will wait until size calculation is finished (only applies to background columns).

It did not work for me. But I figured out why not. In the preferences under display if have the setting Sorting directories -> always by name the it ignores it if you clicked on another column like size to sort on it. If you however choose Sorting directories -> Like files (also by time) then it does sort on the column size if you click on it. Strange option though the Sorting directories -> always by name as it ignores the userinterface where you can sort on another column.

Anyway this DirSizeCalc keeps getting better and better.

I received a Spanish language file for DirSizeCalc 1.21 created by the user Sombra. If you want to use it open DirSizeCalc.lng an paste the text below.

Code: Select all

[esp]
; Translation for es-ES language.

I stumbled over a peculiar behavior of the dirsizecalc Plugin.

Create two custom columns for the same custom columns view:
[=dirsizecalc.Size (Background).bytes]
[=dirsizecalc.Size (Background).All_Dims]

Activate this custom column view and enter a directory with some big folders and subfolders.
Enter one of these folders and wait till the sizes of the subfolders are displayed. Switch one level up:

While the 'Bytes'-column is already displayed fine the 'all_Dims' column still shows only the 'DIR' and it takes a few seconds till it is exchanged to the value.

Is this normal?
