Convert me!
No conversion is really needed IMHO - all browsers and download managers (and coffee-making machines for that matter) have a well-defined job to do and there are no sensational break-throughs AFAIK to make anyone abandon one in favour of another. Most have the same features (like segmented downloads, bandwidth controls, resume, scheduling, etc) so if you're happy with FDM then there is no compelling reason to switch to Flashget.
I've never used FDM so can't do a pro/con comment, maybe another forumer could oblige. I have used other managers like Getright, Net Transport, and many others long since uninstalled and can only list the aspects of Flashget that keep it as my preference:
[1] simple, uncluttered interface
[2] optional background colour to enhance readability
[3] easy wildcard function for batch downloads
[4] no problems with .mms files and ftp
[5] accepts plain text file list to download
[6] built-in browser to pick links directly
[7] site login/password on a per-file basis
[8] single-click to lock default download parameters
[9] always-on-top drop-zone & graph to keep an eye on progress without having to look at the task/notification bar or download window
[10] pop-up alert if URL is a repeat
[11] good integration with Opera (finally!)
Wishlist: The ability to automatically create and save files in a folder tree based on all or part of the download URL, just like Getright.
