I was wondering if anybody has any information about how to get rid of the XP Security warning that pops up when I try to run some programs from the Total Commander command line.
I did some research, and it is NOT related to the usual NTFS Zone Identifier issue. The files that give the problem do not have a Zone Identifer (I have checked) and were not downloaded from the Internet. They are old DOS programs.
Additional strange behaviour is as follows:
1. If I open the folder where the program file is stored in either TC window and then execute the progam from the TC command line, then it runs ok (no popup).
2. If I change to a different folder, and try to run the program, then I get the Security Warning popup.
3. If I open a DOS window from the TC Command menu, I can CD to any directory and run the program ok (the folder that contains the program is defined in the System PATH environment variable).
I have also tried the various registry hacks. Eg:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Download]
"CheckExeSignatures"="no"
"RunInvalidSignatures"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Associations]
"LowRiskFileTypes"=".exe;.EXE;"
as well as editing the group policies.
None of these has had any effect.
Many Thanks
XP Security Warning

I have never seen such security warnings on XP. For which programs do you get them, and what exactly do they say?
