Do you want builtin console window in TC?

Post by *VadiMGP »

Very often i need to run several console command one by one, but at the same time i want to keep file list before my eyes with ability to easy navigation. My idea is: turn one of the file lists to temporary console window, that allows to run command, see console output and keep commands in TC command history even if console window is closed.

I want to pay your attention: the proivded FS pluging is not a product, it provided as illustration for idea only, to give some feeling what i speak about. Please, don't talk about present bugs or absent features. :)

Don't run in this plugin GUI, ful- screen or DOS applications. Only 32-bit console programms with redirection abilities (like ping, ipconfig, net, chkdsk etc).
Don't try it on Windows 9x platform.

Plugin available here

Really nice idea.

I would use it a lot !

Especially if tabs were possible.

That would be cool! And especially with tabs... KDE Konsole-like look&feel ;)

this would be very nice! (the question is what christian thinks about it ;))
At the moment I've changed the F2-Key to cm_ExecuteDOS (like Krusader). You can drag dir's from TC in this window if you don't want to type all the path but a buildin-console would open a new spectrum of features....

It definitely MUST to be.

If you didn't got it yet, Vadim, it would be one of the greatest plugs... 8)

I'd like to see Tab-Extensions like (linux) bash.
and a hotkey to transfer the Path (or only the filename) in the consolewindow

2Jonas I'm not familiar with linux. What is "Tab-Extensions"? Command autocompletion?

Hotkey is seems to be problem because while you work in filelist all hotkeys handled by TC. But with Ctrl+Enter you'll be able to get filename into command line and when you switch to console window (by pressing Tab key or by regular navigation) pressing Enter will pass TC's command line to console. You already can try this with plugin mentioned in the first post.

I would like to accent: this plugin is not for running full-screen console applications. I don't see any reason to run such applications inside TC. This plugin will designed for program working via stdin, stdout. TC's command line will be redirected to program input and program output will be shown in plugin window.

tabextensions? when you type a letter and push Tab so it autocompletes and cycles through the names in a folder.
