Total Commander

Hello all!

I'd like to thank all who contribute in development of this magnificent program; I am testing v7 for my private use, and I'd like to see one feature I've been seeing on Linux file managers.

From time to time I have to select all files in foder and drag'em to the top of the file view window to drop'em to upper-level directory. When I do just that, the files are copied there, when I hold SHIFT, files are moved there.

On Linux I was using one similar file manager which, when just dragged'n'dropped files to upper-level folder, a menu poped-up with selections of "Copy to..." or "Move to...", which I find easier to deal with, rather than pressing the shift key while dragging files to just move files there.

maybe clicking the right mouse helps before you droping the files...

Drag with the right mouse button instead of the left and you'll get a popup menu with Copy... and Move...

I feel like a fool now. Works with clicking right mouse button before releasing left mouse... but I can't drag'em with rmb, because I get explorer menu/deselect the files.

Btw, you can now use right mouse button drag&drop even with right mouse selection mode! Just hild down shift before starting the drag.

Dragging with the right mouse button and pressing shift at the same time, you are actually performing a "move" task, right? When you release the right mouse button the menu appears but the copy option is bold. Shouldn't the move option be bold instead?

Yes I guess altering the default entry when shift is pressed is a good idea.

F5/F6 and then '..' is enough, I think.

Only when you RELEASE the mouse button while shift is pressed. I'm talking about PRESSING the mouse button down while shift is pressed. You can release shift before dropping the file.

Yes, that's the case i'm talking about. In that case, before displaying the menu, it would be nice if the "move" option became bold instead of letting the "copy be bold". It's a little detail but it would be nice.

Another question:

Maybe is an INI-option
possible to make the d&d action "move" by default?
(ATM it is "copy" by default)

And holding "Shift" would perform an "copy"-action then.

This way i could move with mouse only (without pressing an key).
Because i do moving more the copying.

Before dropping the file press the right mouse button in addition and you'll move the file(s) instead of copy. No need to press any key for that.

And in TC that works across partitions/drives, too (contrary to explorer).

Sorry that I have to correct you but you are wrong. This works already with Total Commander Version 5.50.

Sorry that I have to correct you but you are wrong. This works already with Total Commander Version 5.50.

I tried it in 6.55 before posting and for some reason it didn't work. It works now though! Crazy world (or me, whatever...).
