Are you planning to add something like "Fields by type" for Custom Column, like for Thumbnails ?

As a simple example (and to be sure that I'm clear, how english isn't my native language), a common "width" column could be used for : video, audio, image type ! (using 3 different content plugins in this case)

I suggested this a while ago. I got the answer that sorting would be a problem here as the user could have added fields of diffrent data types.

My idea to solve the sorting problem would be to provide all available fields when adding the first by field type definition to the column. When adding the second and all subsequent by filetype definitions TC should only provide the fields of the same type as in the first definition.

Another approach could be to convert all field values to strings and sort them as strings. This would probably only look good when using one of the natural sorting options.

Converting to string seem the better solution, all result will be always displayed.
