Loop while searching using FTP & Multirename Problem

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Loop while searching using FTP & Multirename Problem

Post by *lzvk25 »

When I am connected to a SUN Solaris server and I try to do a simple search file, it works

Image: http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/743/tcsearch01mx4.png

But when I also try to look for a file that contains a string,

Image: http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/4081/tcsearch02if8.png

It seems that TC falls into a loop showing me only the following screen, and pressing the "Cancel" button does not work.

With this I am forced to kill the TC process using the Task Manager.

And finally, while doing a MultiRename, TC looses focus once the process is done. AFAIK this was already fixed in 6.55a.

I think this is already reported here: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=12806 - otherwise it must be related.

Oops, sorry, You are right. I think it is the same.

However, the Multirename problem is another matter and like I said, it was resolved in the "official" version.

I can not confirm that the mutirename tool looses focus - you must tell more specificly what you do when it happens.

I can't confirm the multi-rename problem either. Can you give us an example, please?

Multirename Sample

Post by *lzvk25 »

OK, here is the sample :

Here I have a group of files to be renamed (the ones on the right panel)

Image: http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/1892/multirename01vc3.png

I select them.

Image: http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/5186/multirename02mr9.png

I call TC's MultiRename and put the name, mask and the number of digits.
And I click on the 'Start' button

Image: http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/4894/multirename03gs8.png

TC's MultiRename finishes

Image: http://img456.imageshack.us/img456/2171/multirename04oi2.png

And I click on the 'Close' button

Image: http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/442/multirename05qt8.png

Suddenly, TC's disappears from my view and another application that I was running takes its place. TC is still running but you need to click TC's icon on the Taskbar to recover it.

I still cannot reproduce this.

Does it happen if you start TC with a fresh ini file?

Very strange indeed. Do you get the same problem also with TC 6.55?

No, with a clean INI file it doesn't happen, but only for the very first time. If I try to do it a second time or more, it happens again.

But, on the other hand, now that I reinstalled the old official versions 6.54a and 6.55a to test this, it keeps happening with the same pattern.

Sorry, somehow I was able to work before without this happening.

Did you change anything important in your system? Maybe this problem is caused by some other software running in the background?

Well, unless it could be related with my work related software, such as the ODBC drivers for Teradata, or some update for my company's official antivirus (McAfee Viruscan Enterprise 8.0), I can't imagine anything else.
:?

I say this because this situation happens also with my PC at home and AFAIK those things are the only software in common, not to mention that the hardware is completely different.

But anyway, if I am the only one having this problem and nobody else reports something similar, by all means leave this aside, I don't want you to waste your time, I rather have a TC that works for 99.9% of the people, afterall I can always click the TC icon in the taskbar and continue working.
