As Henrie said. I didn't noticed them before this poll.
I always work with a long view, so the yellow icons are enough to distinguish from the files with their own associated icons.
So I couldn't vote. On or off, it's fine by me.

Oh yeah, that's it, my mistake. I have tried it in the past but did not like the text coloring. I just like all my text black and with only the alternating background colors in the list. So no colored text or backgrounds.
Maybe I also don't like bold text for directories when i have tried it.

Greetings,
Henrie

I work with Bracket ON because for severals folder, I have changed the default icon to see the icon of the program for which I have created the directory. Note that it can slow down TotalCommander for "little" machines.

For info, to do that :
1) Create a desktop.ini file on this subdirectory

2) Edit it to have :
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=
The_string_with complete_path_of_an_ICO_or_ICL_or_EXE_file...
IconIndex=0_or_the_icon_index

The complete path is not mandatory if the file is in this subdirectory.

3) Once save, Read and Hide attributes can be set to protect and mask a little.

4) Return to directory father and Set Read attribute to the subdirectory where the desktop.ini was created. Then the icon should have changed.

Note that I use also a different color for directories like SanskritFritz proposes it 8)
