[WISH] Separate clicking options for directories and files

After some time of experimenting with "Open files and directories on single click" option I felt this option need to be separated on 2 separate options for files and directories.

THe problem is that it is natural to use it with directories but not so natural to use it with files, so I would like to have single click to open dirs and double click for files. The problem with files and single click is apparent. For instance, as the cursor will follow mouse in that mode, F3 is basicly not functional as if you just move the mouse a little, you will open different file for viewing. Selction doesn't help here. Also, one wrong click can execute some not wanted things, etc... Entering folder by accident is far from dangerous as you can return back with single click.

I also noticed that setting InPlaceRename=2 (witch should be set to default IMO) should not depend on this option (now it does), so single click with visual feedback (underline) will possible fit every user (nobody really need 2 clicks here as you can do this only by hovering with your mouse, and you generaly don't click here by accident)

Thx

how do you get the single click operation option?
"Configuration" -> "Operation" -> "Main program" -> "Open files and directories with a single click".

Or edit you wincmd.ini file:

[Configuration]
SingleClickStart=1

That's a great idea! My full support for this new option!

I agree! It will be distinguish behavior.

2majkinetor !

:) Hi !
…so I would like to have single click to open dirs and double click for files.
I support too, this sounds logical. The current one-click setting is getting risky if some malware is under the cursor…
- And because I use mainly the mouse and D&D, a mouse-slip in such a case is pretty annoying !

2majkinetor !

Count me in! I think you suggestion is really great! I played around with the current single-click behaviour many times before but always disabled it after a short while.

Indeed single-clicking is _very_ useful for folders, but _very_ annoying when handling with files.

So: full support for your suggested 'folders-only'-single click option! I would definitely use it if it was implemented.

Thanks, really nice addition. But has one drawback - renaming directories with mouse is impossible. Maybe something like LClick-and-hold or something similar?

I use the new singleClick option and in the cases I want to select a folder for renaming etc with mouse, I first press TAB once to remove the focus from the active panel and then click on the desired folder. If a panel (or TC's window) doesn't have the focus, the clicked folder isn't opened on first click. Just a workaround of course, but that does it for me.

I'm not against an additional way to select a folder without opening it though...

F2 is faster ;)

Ah, well. I see, I didn't get your point right: you meant not setting the focus on a folder, but using the 2 single mouseclicks to enter inline rename mode.

Indeed that is not possible with singleClick, but for me it's no prob, as I always use F2 for this too :)
