Interesting thing when reinstalling 6.56

Post by *harrismail »

Hi all,

I just installed v7 b4 and tried it for a while and then reinstalled v6.56 over the top of v7 b4 and some of the functions I'd selected with v7 b4 still remained - like opening files and directories with a single click and also selecting just the filename and not the extension when renaming.

Strange - any reason for this?

Hi,

nothing strange here :)

TC stores its settings in the file WINCMD.INI, which is not overwritten when you install a different version over a previous installation. That is intentional and makes it possible to always keep your prefered settings when installing a new version.

So if you change some settings, they will remain even after a version change, so you have to manually reset the options you like to restore.

Many functions which were already in TC 6.56 are now accessible via the main Configuration dialog, like for example the above-mentioned single click mode. Many of these were added for users by their request, and could only be configured by modifying the wincmd.ini.
