TC7 and TC6 should co-exist peacefully

...at least during the beta period.

As it is now, despite the fact that I installed TC7 in a separate directory, the installer overwrite my desktop and Start menu links to point to TC7. And when I uninstalled TC7, these were, of course, gone. :(

At least during the beta test period, TC7 should install in a different Start menu group and should create a differently named desktop shortcut.

... and, of course, a beta tester should know what he's doing BEFORE installing beta sofware

They do coexist, just the shortcut is updated to the latest version. Just create a new one if you still need the old version.

Of course. You don't seriously think that I installed the beta on my production machine, right? 8) I installed it on a Virtual PC. So, no real harm done - I just wanted to report the issue.

The programs do - as I said, I installed the beta in a separate directory. But, IMO, it is wrong that the existing shortcuts for the old version are overwritten by those of the beta. As I reported, this has the side-effect of leaving the user with no Start menu and desktop shortcuts when uninstalling the beta. It would be better if these shortcuts have a different name - e.g., with " Beta" appended to them - so that they don't overwrite the existing ones. This doesn't have to be permanent - i.e., it can be changed to the old behavior once the beta test period is over.

During installation, you are prompted whether you want to install shortcuts in the Start menu and on the Desktop - why don't you just answer NO to these two questions?

Because I want shortcuts to be installed. I just don't want them to overwrite the already installed shortcuts for a pre-existing stable version of TC.

That is exactly what I am suggesting that the installer of TC7-beta should do, yes.
