These are all the bugs I noticed so far...

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

This is my first post here - so just tell me if I should do sth different next time 8)

So the lower right button shouldn't read "anwenden" but sth. like "Liste"
(englisch version says "feed to listbox")

so... I guess now I can post links...

Search [IMG]

I guess that's just because of DPI 115% (15,4 @ 1680 x 1050) anyways:
Multirename [IMG]

same here:
FTP [IMG]

There should be a send to back button here:
(and "VON" and "NACH" would look nicer "von" and "nach:" - I mean just bold)
FTP transfer [IMG]

Same here:
FTP delete [IMG]

- Send to Tray doesn't work anymore after bringing up the window using Alt+Tab -> Enter

- while searching you have to press abort first so that the close button works

- "mobile device" doesn't show in the devices list (you know... when you have a PDA attached via ActiveSync) / I know... WinCE Plugin

- when renaming a file and clicking somewhere - the file doesn't get renamed
that's so annoying because standardwindowsbehaviour is different
Don't know if you agree (f2 instead of alt+f6 would be so nice)

- copying from trash to folder by drag'n drop results in wrong filename

There is a bug related to renaming... that says file not found after renaming and opening a file... and now that I'm writing this post I can't reproduce it ...
Same bug when deleting a file - I'll post again... as soon as I figure out what's causing this.

So that's all for now.
The version I'm talking about is RC1.

I'm now switching to RC3.

If any/all of these problems are already fixed/don't need to be fixed - accept my apologies for this post.

Regards.

Welcome excogitation
I assume you have a Laptop with a 15.4" WSXGA display, resolution with 1680 x 1050 pixels.

What's your reason to set of DPI 115% ?
You can change the font settings in: Configuration - Options - Font - Dialog box Font.

What's wrong with the first picture (Find Files) ?

When you have 1680 x 1050 pixel, why is the window of the "Multi Rename Tool" minimized to 646 x 460 Pixel ?

Please do one new topic per bug, collections like this will become almost unreadable. Do a query in the search first, for example "clicking somewhere when renaming a file" is indeed a windows bug.

[mod]Good evening,

• Like “Stance” points out above (thanks), please respect the forum rules, then post one message per topic, preferably in already existing threads, if possible…

• The … [/I M G] marker is disabled here, so please use the U R L one,
or set it complete with the end-marker.
- Anyway, the images are not displayed within the messages :|

• Also, please show screen shots in English, this is an English forum thus the readers are not supposed able to read in German (I don't really…)

Term "Anwenden" in Search (Alt+F7)

Good evening, Chris.

Well, this applies to the German version only.
The button has been labelled "Anwenden" in the German version ever since the "Search (Alt+F7)" dialogue has existed.

It may not be the best term, but it definitely does not constitute a bug.
In analogy to "feed to listbox", the term "Zeige als Liste" might be appropriate.

Dialogue box display problem using DPI 115%

You may simply resize the dialogue boxes.
So where is the bug? In front of the keyboard?

Again, this is not TC7 specific.

No matter whether I agree or whether I don't, it is simply a matter of taste.
Again no bug, and again in no way specific to TC7.

Aborting Search (Alt+F7)

Post by *karlchen »

excogitation wrote:- while searching you have to press abort first so that the close button works
Again, this no bug. It works as designed.

You may interrupt the search process for various reasons, e.g. because the file you are looking for has been found. So there is no need to go on searching.
So you abort the search process, but of course, you wish to see the result.

Again this behaviour is not specific to TC7.

Mobile Devices not showing in device list.

Again, this is not new in TC7.
Complain to Microsoft for not sharing the required programming interface.
Moreover this has been discussed more than once in this forum.
Kindly use the search button, before reporting a well-known issue as a new bug.

Copying from Recycle Bin Results in Wrong Filename.

Post by *karlchen »

excogitation wrote:- copying from trash to folder by drag'n drop results in wrong filename
Again, this behaviour is not T.C. 7 specific, but as old as 32bit T.C. as such.

Recycle bin is a special folder, the files stored there have been renamed to dcX.yyy.
If you simply restore them to the original location, they will get back their original filename.

TC does not support the internal Recycle Bin Info2 file format, therefore you will have to rename the files if you use TC to copy them from the recycle bin.

If so, this is a lacking feature, not a bug.

Rename aborted if clicking outside the edit box.

Once again:
this behaviour was not introduced in TC7, but has been this way since ages.
And the question if TC needs to imitate Explorer behaviour or not has been discussed in the forum as well.
Even if you do not like the current behaviour, it works as designed - ask C.G. - so once again, not a bug.

Bug Report Summary

Post by *karlchen »

excogitation wrote:So that's all for now.

You should have switched to RC3 before writing reports about alledged bugs, found in RC1.
If any/all of these problems are already fixed/don't need to be fixed - accept my apologies for this post.
Most of the issues you reported
+ are not TC 7 specific
+ do not constitute bugs at all, only TC does not behave as you expect it to
+ have been discussed before

If you wish to help find bugs in the current TC version, you are certainly welcome.
Yet, make sure the things you report are really bugs.
A bug means TC does not work as designed.
If TC does not always behave as you expect, this need not be a bug.

Almost none of the items in your "bug list" qualifies for the term "bug".

A few of the things which you labelled bugs actually might qualify as feature requests, e.g.
+ being able to copy items from the recycle bin and restoring the original names
+ better support for the "My Computer" namespace (access to devices like PDAs e.g.)

Kind regards,
Karl
