[REQ] Support environmental variables in saved tabs

Post by *icfu »

...and other places which don't support them right now if there are any left.

I am relatively that this has been requested already but I haven't found the thread(s). This feature should have made it into TC 7 just because it's such an obvious design flaw.

I support your request.

IMHO, It could be very useful, one example: Imagine... you are working in differents PCs, If TC is in a USB stick and you have tabs with "my documents" (%$PERSONAL%), "desktop" (%$DESKTOP%), etc.

Support of course, but I just can't get over the feeling that unicode support will come first .

Yeah, Unicode will be much easier to implement than envvars in tabs of course. ;)

I know you are kidding.

Yet, nonetheless:
Not supporting environment variables inside the saved tab definitions may be a pain i. t.. a... from time to time.
Yet, the lack of full Unicode support increasingly limits the usability of TC on current Windows platforms. Hence, from my humble and limited point of view, adding full Unicode support should get the higher precedence.
