Clicking outside contextmenu --> TC crash!

I don't know it's a problem of TC or it's a problem on my site, but...

Problem:
... sometimes, when I click on a filename or directory with the right mouse button to open the contextmenu, and then immediately click outside this contextmenu somewhere in TC, TC disappears (crashes)!

Has someone an answer or confirmation about this?

I know, using Shell Menu View, etc, will be the first answer. But I deactivate them all first and tried it out before I posted this tread. I still keep this problem(s) what I did not had with the previous version of TC...

I tested right clicking on an empty area of the file list, nothing happens.

- I use the left mouse button for the selection.
- Which button are you using for the selection ?

• In TC 7.0, there is a feature which prevents to call the local menu by several means at the same time
(i.e. right-click and the menu key, or a button with the “2500” internal command).
Maybe a time-out duration related to that feature ? Anyway, hard to reproduce, I've a 2.4 GHz CPU, that's not really slow…
- Please, try to make a video if possible.

Hi Clo!

As I said, it happens sometimes and reproduction is not always possible, but it still keeps happening on the most unexpected times.

A video is not necessary because it's quite simple.

The only thing I do is just right clicking one row which does pop-up a contextmenu. And instead of choosing one of the pop-up items, I click beside the context menu, somewhere in the background, but still inside the TC space. And then it happens (sometimes), TC burst like a soap bubble...

Hm, I tried to reproduce this with multiple filetypes and folders and not a single crash occured here.

Using XPSP2, left-mousebutton select mode. I tried right and left clicking outside the context menu, but everything behaves fine.
Did you try to reproduce this with a blank INI file?

Maybe logging system activity with FileMon can help to find the cause.

I've noticed that 'crashing of TC7' is a frequently returned topic in this forum. Maybe there's something in the TC7 program that causes this syndrome?

It may be caused by some specific shell extension (WinRAR, 7Zip of something).

Anyway, there has been one fix for a right click problem that was not related to shell extensions:

20.04.07  Fixed: Prevent the user from opening the right click context menu multiple times (e.g. by right clicking and pressing the menu button at the same time)

So, if you don't use TC 7 Final till now, try an update.

Both. In fact I've used both.

My problem is that it happens so infrequently. I can 't say that I use exotic software (mensioned in the contextmenu or linked with TC).
But for me is the most important reason that I still have to do my job (12 hrs/day) and have hardly time to experiment...

What I do know is the fact that I still use the same old programs with a new TC. From then on I got these problem(s).

I never use Windows Explorer any more, for the benefit of TC. TC is a magnificent program, despite of some growing pains that's always related with a new version...

So, if you don't use TC 7 Final till now, try an update.

No its bad coders that causes that many right-click-crash-probs
because they code shity shell-extensions.
Have you tried to disable ALL your ShellExtensions with the Programm mentioned by icfu

I'm ingaged with that for a while, yes. But because it's so hard to reproduce, it's not ease to be quite sure of the result(s). And it's so very time-consuming too...

But I'll see what I can do. Maybe one day it reveals itself (I hope so)!
