Simple file open manager

Post by *petermad »

Here is an alternative to using File Open managers as for example:

- ChoiceEditor ( http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/ChoiceEditor_patched.html )
- OpenFileTC ( http://www.antoon-inc.com/oftc/index.html )
- F4Menu ( http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=17003 )

Just put this code in the Configuration -> Edit/View -> Editor field:

Code: Select all

RUNDLL32.EXE SHELL32.DLL,OpenAs_RunDLL
be careful not to leave any (invisible) spaces at the end.

It is definitely faster to press F4, than it is to press Shift+F10 (or right click) -> Open with -> Choose program...

I have that in my start menu, but here it shows up rather slow, even on subsequent calls. Any idea how to speed up things here?

How long is your list of applications? - mine is only 23 so it opens very quickly.

Over 100 here. That could be a good reason, as windows searches for all the icons in the apps. Ah well...
