FTP QUEUE like filezilla would improve a lot Total Commander

Hi all,

I have lost my TC profile so I create this new one.

I use TC on a daily basis from WC3 if I remember well, and I appreciate a lot the efficiency it provides me.

There is something not reliable/easy to use : the FTP client part of TC.

I explain : I have some big scripts (many files of any sizes) to transfer to my free hosting, the problem is that FTP using TC is failing often and if am not in front of my PC to click on resume in the next 5 seconds, the global transfert aborts and I have to check where it has stopped to transfer the remaining files... TOO BAD !

It is very boring, so I use Filezilla under Windows or Gftp under Linux to update my script easily. Both of Filezilla and Gftp are using a ftp queue which permits to resume any failed transfer !

THIS IS WHAT WOULD BE IMPLEMENTED IN TC IN ORDER TO MAKE IT A RELIABLE FTP CLIENT !!!

Best regards.

Sorry, TC isn't the tool of choice to access unreliable ftp servers. Use a dedicated ftp client like the mentioned filezilla.

Sorry for the terms of "not reliable" for the FTP

Hi Christian,

Your module is reliable but with some free remote hosting servers like free.fr, the server temporisation can cause drops, this is the reason why I suggested a QUEUE so that the transfers could be resumed easily.

Is it so difficult to implement in TC ?

Just use the ftp add to list - ftp download from list. It will mark all those with "OK-" which worked, so you can resume the others.

Yes it works but...

This was a good suggestion except that I can't create a list from a recursive exploration of directory with many levels of subdirectories...

Unfortunately, I could'nt use this because it stores in list only the contains of one directory at the same time and it does'nt store the full path of files.

Perhaps, you could easily add the generation of a recursive list of files with full paths ?

Why do you need it? If a directory is added, it will be downloaded with all contents...

OK let me explain.
I have seen that you use PHPbb as forum.

When you download the .tar archive before transferring it to your hosting server you have to extract all the content of the archive (many directories, subdirectories and files in each of them).

What you suggested was to create list from directory, but it operates only for one directory at a time. This the problem, I can't create a list of files of PHPbb, directory by directory... ;-)

So this is the reason why I asked you to create the ability to create a recursive list of files from a base path.

... but not only for FTP but fot BTM in general - this way we would see how much do we have left to transfer, because currently we see the progress bar per file but the BTM entry shows the entire dir, so there is no easy way to find out how many files are still left to copy.
