global directory history; find as you type

Hi,
some suggestions for the directory history:
(1) An optional "global" mode would be nice, i.e. a shared history for (all tabs from) both sides.
(2) Find-as-you-type: typing part of a path should reduce the list to matching entries.
(3) Nice-to-have: configurable number of remembered directories.
