search for unique files

Post by *teceuser »

Total Commander perfectly looking for duplicates.
is there a way to find only unique files? (without additional manipulations)

There is a folder with many subfolders, sub-sub-folders, etc. Folders have many duplicate files and few unique files.
How to quickly find only unique ones? (Comparison by file name and size)
Thank you

In short no !
If you use branch view and sort by name then size you will have a list of file but the final information needs to be computed. Exporting filenenme, size and use excel or a script to process the list ...

Try to do as follows:
1. Open your folder (directory) in both TC panels - left and right
2. In the left panel use Alt+F7 to find duplicates. Open "Advanced" tab, mark "Find duplicate files" (same name and size should be already marked by default), then click "Start search" button.
3. When the search is finished, click "Feed to listbox" button below the search list.
4. Go to the right panel, press Ctrl+B to use flat view, then press Shift+F2 to compare both lists. File selected in the right panel are either unique or newer then files found as duplicates. Files UNselected in the right panel are either duplicates or older than duplicates found in the left panel.
As you can see, it's not exactly what you want, but it's a fast and good approximation, I think.
