Option of copying target file instead of LNK

When copying .LNK files to a different disk volume, I would like a warning prompt, with the option to copy the shortcut link, or the target file. Ideally remembering my choice for the current operation. Similar for linked folders.
Copying LNK files on USB drives/portable hard-disks is useless and I think never needed.

thats why you have a machine between your ears
Seriously if you can see if you copy a *.exe/*.com
or a *.lnk its your fault not the filemanagers....

..only if this prompt is optional. It's not unusual for me to copy links. Such prompts would be very annoying.

I wouldn't like a warning prompt either, however in certain cases it might be helpful if such an option existed in the copy window. When checked, it would copy the link's target, not the link itself. Of course, when drag/drop is used, the LNK would be copied, not the target file.
