Should Imagine discontinue as a plugin?

In this posting (near the end)
http://www.nyam.pe.kr/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=712#p712 Nyam, the author of Imagine, says:
BTW, Supporting TC as plugin may be discontinued from next version.
Since I cannot set up a poll at the
Imagine forum, I do it here.
I, myself, would find it highly inconveniant if the plugin support is stopped

which I also express here:

I've checked first option but I could have nothing against it IF Imagine could be used in lister like IrfanView or XnView.
I've also checked 1st option because with plugin I have more configuration options and I can use Imagine together with other viewers. As long as TC does not support multiple external apps, I will go against such idea.

It would be a huge inconvenience. I'm out of words to express how much would it hurt.
I guess I'd continue to use the outdated version as long as feasible. What then? I don't know.
External one?
- Assigning it for lister requires maintaining large list of extensions. Pain to manage and slower than autodetection.
- A hotkey just for it? I have enough hotkeys already.
- Merge with other viewers using OFTC or so? Painful to manage again. And slower than lister.
I don't see any more options. External Imagine seems useless for me, so I don't care how fast would it be developed then.
ADDED: I selected 2. I won't stop using Imagine. Not immediately.

I always wondered why there has been a standalone version of Imagine. Okay maybe as a goodie. But just continuing the development of the standalone version? There are quite a bunch of free powerful image viewers out there. I'm not sure of it make sense to compete with them.
Imagine's strength always has been its integration into TC and I don't understand why this should be given up.

good to read.
i'm used to imagine as an imagine-plugin inside tc, because its small and fast.
for normal use i would'nt prefer it, because of other viewers which have more features (and therefore are bigger and bolder and not so fast)

Although I had read nyam's clarification by then, I decided to tick option number 1 nevertheless.
Why:
For all the reasons explained by petermad, fenix_productions, m^2 and lefteous.
And let me add:
In particular on USB sticks using a small plugin like Imagine is more convenient than using IrfanView or XNView. (Though I like Irfanview really well, inspite of the 3 configuration tabs labelled "Other Settings". But this is offtopic here.).
