[wish] still show extension when filename is truncated

i dont use the extensions column, because i like to see the .ext directly behind the filename.
so when the filename is too long and truncated i would propose to put the "..." in front of the .ext like this:
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilen...txt
instead of this:
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilenam...
thanks!

Hello !
• I use the same setting, and I guess it could be better in the case.
- Currently, only the
colours by file types can help, supposing you have a reasonable amount of them,
with sufficiently different hues…

Mmmh,
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilen...txt
is a unusual, but valid file name, while
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilenam...
is not....

Maybe it's just a question of display:
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilen....txt
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilen
[...].txt
Something like that would be nice – if possible at all.

Better:
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilen
<..>.txt
I agree, coloring would be helpful to indicate that the filename is truncated.

I'd prefer
Code: Select all
veryveryveryveryveryverylongfilen***.txt
because * is forbidden and I find that <> or [ ] is too heavy and takes to much place.
