Breadcumbs on toplevel causes problems with zip files
Put a Zip file in Eigene Dateien. Click on the first arrow (left) on the Breadcumb bar and select Eigene Dateien. Now:
remember the old days at Fides, the Cyber and NOS/VE

Confirmed here (Win XP).
The icon is also different for zip files.
The extension of zip files is attached to the name in the Name column, the Ext column is empty.

Steps to reproduce :
1° Click on the left down arrow of the breadcrumb bar
2° Choose "Documents" (Here in french)
3° Result in this screenshot : http://ouistiti.50webs.com/screenshot106.png
4° Unable to open the zip files.
I also tried on a Vista machine : "Documents is not directly reachable so step 2 becomes :
Step 2° a) Choose "Your USERNAME"
Step 2° b) Choose "Documents"
it's OK, no similar problem.
It seems to occur only with XP !

Confirmed on WinXP Pro SP3 PL!
This behaviour is surprising:
- ZIP files have WinRAR icons and double click on them does nothing.
- RAR files have standard yellow box icons but double click on them launches WinRAR.

Your link does not show any screenshot for me.

I see the same on Windows XP Home SP3.
The zip file is shown as a folder/directory like in Windows Explorer with WinRAR icon. But does not have the functionality like in Windows Explorer.
But when you show the tree in TC (cm_ToggleSeparateTree1 or cm_ToggleSeparateTree2) and click on My Documents than you can double-click on the zip-file in the tree and it opens in the file panel.
But the zip file is only shown in the tree if you have had it previously shown with the described behaviour. Otherwise it is not shown in the tree.
EDIT: Looked around a bit more. In Windows Explorer the zip-folder is only shown in the list when i click on the text My Documents (Mijn documenten in Dutch). Not when i click on the + in front of the My Documents folder.
In TC, when I hover over My Documents to see the contents of this folder in the breadcrumb navigation, the zip-file is shown among the other folders inside My Documents. And when clicked the zip-file will be opened in the file panel.

Hello !
• With a ZIP in My Documents\Claude\xyz.zip , that works as expected…
• The Paul's screen shot is not displayed in IE6¦Maxthon either here (some dark "referrer header" issue, I assume),
just copy the link and "Paste & Go" in the address bar of the Opera browser, that works.
- Aside : BTW, I never put anything in the “pre-chewed” M$-places…

Hi, Paul.
Though your link will only bring up a "50webs.com" image, whatever I do, your instruction helped me understand immediately what the problem was. (Now that I am back on Windows XP.)
You cannot reproduce it on Vista. This is the point. So I did not understand at first.
Claude, in order to reproduce, you need to go to "My Documents" first. The TC address bar will display "\\My Documents".
If you go to "%$PERSONAL%" instead, the TC address bar will display "C:\Documents And Settings\<your name>\My Documents", everything will be all right and you cannot reproduce the problem.
Cheers,
Karl

Hi Karl !
• Ah ! Well, I can reproduce in such conditions (I didn't get that prior…).
• You can see here under XP-Pro SP1 on THIS CAPTURE :
- The selected ZIP has the icon from Windows (?), and it can't be opened (Win error beep).

Spelling corrected. "merci" does not have a cédille. Should have remembered having learnt that at school.

This is a known limitation which cannot be fixed: Explorer reports ZIP files in virtual folders as FOLDERS, not files. Therefore TC lists them in virtual folders as the breadcrumb bar, but cannot access them because they are special Explorer folders. There is NO solution, sorry. Just don't put any ZIP files in virtual folders.

But are zip files on the Desktop not listed? We had a similar problem when the separate directory tree was added. Maybe this helps?
ghisler(Author) wrote: The object is reported as SFGAO_FOLDER, but the SHGetDataFromIDList(lpsf,lpi,SHGDFIL_FINDDATA reports that it hasn't folder attributes - this allows me to detect it!

I use a special workaround for the Desktop in this case, but this check may cause other problems in other locations, it's not guaranteed that it will not make other folders inaccessible, e.g. third party networks or so.
