MS Sans Serif not saved as dialog font

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

MS Sans Serif not saved as dialog font

Post by *Flint »

1. Open Configuration -> Options -> Font.
2. For the Dialog box font select "MS Sans Serif", press OK.
3. Open the Configuration dialog again.
4. The Dialog box font is set to "Microsoft Sans Serif".

I support the “bug”, because now, a lot of issues could be solved with the French interface !

- Normally, now Microsoft Sans Serif IS the default font…

Does this mean that you wish to keep this bug as a feature?

Cheers,
Karl

This is intentional and will not be changed. It's done because "MS Sans Serif" was the default font in earlier versions, so many users had stored it. Unfortunately "MS Sans Serif" doesn't support Unicode, so it's auto-replaced by "Microsoft Sans Serif" if available.

Why only for the "Dialog box font" - why not also for the "File list font" - file names can also contain Unicode.

Forgotten… ?

:) Hi Peter !
…- why not also for the "File list font" …
• Good point !
• Maybe is it just an oversight ? It should be indeed logical, I support …
… despite that is not the kind of font I would use in the lists…
