Queue feature after F5/OK copying has begun

Hi there.

When selecting a file(s) and pressing F5 we can choose either to copy the file(s) or add it to a queue.

If pressing "Ok" button the copy starts. Now I can choose the copy to proceed "In background", but is it possible to add a button here to add the current copying to a Queue also?

I miss that feature since I sometimes start copying a file and later want to copy some other files also - I miss a feature to switch from standard copy to queue copy on the run.

You cannot add a copy operation to the queue when the copying has already started. Why? The queue can handle only one copy operation at the same time. You cannot add an operation in progress to another operation in progress...

The meaning is not that I want to have a Queue running and a background copy at the same time.

I want to proceed the copy operation just as a queue operation instead (convert the standard copy operation to a queue instead).

The problem is that if I start a copy of a large folder that could take 20 minutes to copy and 5 minutes after the copy operation has begun I find it necessary to add some more files to the copy operation - it's then to late!

Todays solution:
So lets say I press the "Background" button the copy operation proceeds in background. I can then select the extra files I want to copy and then hit F5 and OK. But this will result in 2 simultanious copy operations at the same time. That is fine if I copy between 2 times 2 different harddisk since the performance will not be affected. But when it's on the same harddisk performance will be affected + I then have more than one window to show the copy operation.

I suggest to set AlwaysCopyInBackground=2 in wincmd.ini. This way you will get copying proccess closer to what you want to.

According to help file:

AlwaysCopyInBackground=0
1: Total Commander always copies in the background
2: Always use background transfer manager

I would like to have the option "Always Copy with Queue". I think Queue is a great tool and that most of the copy (ftp, zip,...) operation should go in the queue.
Then from the queue list it should be possible to select a file/files and choose "do now" to process the instruction in parallel.
