TC IconLib on Windows7

Post by *deus-ex »

Hi all,

I just completed assembling my new PC and switched to Windows7 Professional (64-bit), hence I'm a beginner regarding the inner workings of that new OS. I cannot get TC to use custom icons stored in a ICL file under Windows7 (64-bit), using the same icon library under Windows XP Pro (32-bit) works fine, though. Is there something special I have to pay attention to or does it simply not function under 64-bit systems?

The icon library is stored in TCs main folder, the ini setting is as follows:

Code: Select all

IconLib=%commander_path%\tc.icl
I already tried using a explicit path without variables to no avail.

Nothing, it's just that the term "iconlib" didn't produce any results and "ICL" didn't come to my mind then. However, from now on "iconlib" will provide a hit, so either way my post does serve a good purpose.

Thanks for pointing me to the right direction. Others with similar issues will certainly participate from those links, too.

I'll post both the 16-bit and converted 32-bit version of my ICL file here once I successfully tested it under Windows7 (64-bit). Please check back tomorrow.

Conversion of the ICL file from 16 to 32 bit turned out to be easy using the great Total Commander lister plugin ICL View 21.8.2009.
  • view the ICL file with the ICL View plugin
  • choose "Save ALL as ICL..." from the rightclick menu
  • select *.icl32 as output format
Here's a link to a 7-Zip archive including the 16 & 32 bit versions of my custom made icon library: download
Have fun with it.
