Restoring NTFS file permissions with built-in RAR (un)packer

Since I bought a NAS, I ran into NTFS file permission related file access issues when plainly copying files using SMB from Windows to the NAS and back (as backup and restore operations).

I have read on internet fora that archiving content with ZIP will not adequately help to be able to restore file permissions on NTFS, but that RAR is able to store and reconstruct NTFS file permissions pretty well. So I made a RAR archive using the command-line RAR.

When I unpack the archive with the RAR unpacker that is built-in in Total Commander 7.50a, the file permissions are NOT restored as stored in the archive. When I unpack the archive using the command-line RAR (V3.9+) it does work.

I would like to see support for this NTFS file permission handling behaviour built-in in Total Commander. Is that possible? I didn't find this suggestion elsewhere, so I figured I'd better let you know. What do you think of the suggestion?

Thanks for this great tool, and keep up the good work!

Indeed it's currently not supported to unpack NTFS permissions from RAR files. You can define WinRAR as an external packer+unpacker in TC if you need this feature.
