Split File function enhancement regarding text file handling

Hi,

A nice enhancement of Total Commander's Split File function would be an option to split large text files whenever a size or line count limit is reached and the end of the current text line (indicated by end of line characters CR/LF-x'0D0A' (Windows) or LF -x'0A' (Unix)) was read. The main feature of this enhancement is that text lines will always stay intact because file splits will be performed at the end of a line, only.

Thank you in advance.

This function can be released in archive plugin.

P.S. Norton Commander can split files by size or count. Why Total Commander can split only by size?

stheub, what if file has only one very-very long line?

Motorocker, agree. Sometimes it is more useful to specify number of parts.

The requested functionality makes no sense if the file has only one very-very long line. It's intended for splitting "normal" text files into a given number of parts preserving text lines. Think of a large report (text) file which size is too big to be uploaded to a FTP server but should remain readable (use of a compression utility like PKZIP is not permitted).

Thank you.
