MD5 generator stops with read error on disk

Post by *Campus »

1. Select a huge file (my file is 24.4 GB)
2. Run Files -> Create Checksums
3. Select MD5 and start with ok
--> after 40% the process stops with a read error on disk. Running the windows tool md5sums on the exact same file just returns the correct md5.

Reproducible all the time. Even on different disks using the same file.

Thanks,
Campus

Strange, 40% of 24.4 GB is at 9.76 GB, not any known limit like 2GB or 4GB. I'm also not aware of any problem of the MD5 function with big files.

Can anyone else reproduce this problem?

Today I tried again and was unable to reproduce :-(. I will try again the next days and will let you know if it happens again.

Thanks so far,
Campus
