Strange, that error doesn't seem to be related to renaming. Do you use the option VistaDelete=1 in wincmd.ini?

Hello Christian.

I don't use the option VistaDelete=1 in wincmd.ini, I revised the file. The situation was with a second copy of TC running. I was duplicating files CTRL+C and CTRL+V to genetare files like 'Copy of file', 'Copy (2) of file'. When renaming the files to correct name, the first was OK, but the second TC crash, and some time TC close itself without crash message. I hope this help you. Thanks.

I confirm that bug not only when I rename files but when I try to use quick view for photos and other media files with imagine and mmedia plugins through Ctrl+Q too. And when I try to copy/move files between directories from one panel to another using "automatic choice of copying mode".
Program shuts down either with the message of memory error, either without any messages.
The 7.55a version doesn't crash while I make those operations/

Oops: version 7.55a from hard disk is unstable now too. Stable only version 7.55a from the flashdrive

Hmmm, I guess instability had a cause in some troubles with the Imagine plugin. I deleted Imagine ini-file and now I cant repeat the bug. Sorry for disturbance

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the problem you have. Here is what I tried:
1. Place cursor on some file
2. Press Ctrl+C
3. Press Ctrl+V -> "file name - copy" is created
4. Press Ctrl+V -> "file name - copy (2)" is created
5. Shift+F6 on first copy, rename to any name - OK
6. Shift+F6 on second copy, rename to any name - OK

What am I doing wrong?
