Current item highlighting in the last active panel

Yes, I know Twinkey can do it but there are a fiew problems with Twinkey. First, it effects TC performance because the whole thing is a hack. Second, the highlighting does not always work. One of the things that makes TC shine is it's performance and as a performance freak, I hated Twinkey from the moment I loaded it.

Is it possible to "add" the feature defined in the subject; "Current item highlighting in the last active panel"?

It's incredibly useful especial when doing drag&drops, and just about anything that has to do with opening a file especially mp3s and images.

It's very frustrating when you lose the last file selected where you end up clicking on the top of the panel just to see which file was last selected.

Twinkey has covered this problem for years but we all know that it's a hack. I believe TC as a mature app should already contain this feature. I would love to see this in the next TC.

Please consider this, this would then go under the "Color" tab. Please.

I support this feature.
Without any "cursor hacks", the current item in the inactive panel could just be underlined, or have a special color.

ghisler, is it possible to have this added some day to TC or should TC have a dependency on TWinkey for it to work?

I support your request, but there is a much better chance of having it fulfilled if you put your request in the proper section: "TC7.56a suggestions (English)", in stead of here in the "Total Commander (English)" section.

I don't know how correct this might be, but it looks nice. :)

I am sure though, that it will NOT in the least bit influence whether Gishler decides to implement this feature.

This should have been there for the longest time as everyone here uses drag&drop and would like to get back to the panel and continue on their selections.

Please exclude me from everyone.
I rarely use the mouse.
And even with the mouse, its only one additional click on the current directory/path bar (the equivalent of <Tab>) to activate the opposite panel.

Kind regards

OK, let's say "99.9999% of users..."

It is very important feature regardless if you are using mouse or keyboard.

Disagree.
For me is the cursor a clear indicator for "Here is the source panel".
An additional cursor in the inactive panel can be confusing (even if it's colored differently or a rectangle instead of a filled bar)

We already have ActiveTitle and InactiveTitle for that purpose

I don't want to argue at this point, but making it optional will not harm you.

With very bad default colors with aero.

Agree.
It was only about that such arguments like "everybody" or "very imporant" are no real arguments.
Only subjective preferences.
I still see no real advantage for this inactive panel cursor.

Does it mean that clicking on a inactive cursor is an advantage (you need to find the cursor first, while activating the panel with the path bar is a click on always the same location).

After Drag&Drop: just bring TC back into front (click on taskbar, windows border, title bar, status bar) and the last cursor position is visible again.
Click on the cursor position while you don't realize that TC has already the focus (what would happen if you have set SingleClickStart=7)...

But agree. As long as this would be an option, it's just an option not for me.

Very true. It is quite unfortunate that we are unable to customize TC's interface elements' colors more. Speed Commander goes overboard with that aspect, but I'd much rather have more customization of colors/controls than I need than not enough.

TwinKey does other panel cursor highlighting with a Gradient-line. I find that's not particularly distracting.

I imagine there's at least a small minority (if not majority) of users that would gladly welcome almost all aspects of TwinKey handled by TC natively.
