Unable to rename file (change case) in protected folders

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Unable to rename file (change case) in protected folders

Post by *Balderstrom »

Windows 7, TC Beta x64, and TC 7.56a

When attempting to rename a folder in Program Files (x86), and only changing the casing of the folder name. TC pops up a dialog box that immediately disappears and the file is not renamed.

TC 7.56a suffers from the same problem.

If instead you change the filename string, it will be renamed after a UAC administrators dialog.

Explorer works normally, with a UAC dialog when attempting to change case of a folder inside "Program Files (x86)".

This is currently not supported. Since Windows is case-insensitive, TC sees this as a minor change and doesn't invoke the whole elevation process.
