Check out this post by Tuska. He created a video showcasing a working installation of SumatraPDF v.3.5.2 along with the SumatraPDF plugin v1.5.1. Perhaps altering the wincmd.ini flags he points out make the difference. I'm going to investigate later today.

Check out this post by Tuska.
Thank you, I'll have a look at this post ^^

EDIT:
It does not resolve this issue. By now, I'm using v3.4.6 ^^

This issue had older versions in pre-release versions, and with the release it was OK. With 3.5x versions this issue persists in release too.

Thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't aware.
Still makes me wonder, what conditions have to be met to get it to work successfully, just like Tuska showcases in a video posted here.

SumatraPDF has other issues for me.
It does not create config file in the directory where the exe is whereas I'm using portable version and when I'm viewing a PDF with TOC, and option ShowToc is true in config file, it does not display TOC. I have to go in contextual menu to display it.
Even v3.4.6 has those issues FOR ME of course, may be someone could help me ^^

I don't have that issue. I just redownloaded and ran the portable releases of SumatraPDF v3.4.6 32/64-bit, each in a new separate folder. Both versions create the config file in the same folder of the executable. Perhaps you want to redownload and try a test run in a new folder yourself?

For me, the SumatraPDF-settings.txt is stored in the Dir of the portable exe.

Here is an example of a portable installation.

%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wlx\sLister\slister.ini

Code: Select all

[slister]
path64=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wlx\sLister\SumatraPDF.exe
%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wlx\sLister\SumatraPDF.exe
%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wlx\sLister\SumatraPDF-settings.txt

2deus-ex, 2Horst.Epp,

Hi,
I tried your file, I've made a compare by file and actually this is the same I have.
But I realize that when launch in a different directory the config is saved in the directory of the exe file.
But my TotalCmd and all plugins are in \Program Files\TotalCmd\Plugins\ and SumatraPDF does not save the config file here. That weird because I launch Total Commander as admin...

2tuska,
Thank you for your advice.
I created slister.ini and put the path of SumatraPDF but it does not work as expected. Sorry.

Have you tried to manually start SumatraPDF in your folder \Program Files\TotalCmd\Plugins\ and SumatraPDF\ to see whether it creates the file? Perhaps missing write permissions are the reason? That can happen even when running TC with admin rights.

Perhaps try placing the file SumatraPDF-settings.txt in that folder yourself and run SumatraPDF.exe once to see whether it can access it (check the file timestamp).

Hi 2deus-ex,

Thank you for those advices ^^
Yes I've already tried to execute SumatraPDF in that folder manualy with the config file in that folder too but it always creates a new config file in appdata\local\sumatrapdf.

To make a test, I have given admin right to the program but it does not do anyhing. I have delete all entries to the register as well, but without success.
I can't say I'm inexperienced in informatic but here I'm stuck ^^

Afterwards, it's not a big deal, I can continue like this.
Nevertheless, thanks again for your help.

@oOoZEUSoOo I think that anywhere inside the Program Files subfolder structure, regardless of admin rights, is an unfriendly environment for portable apps. Could you try to run it from any other place?
I have SumatraPDF.exe in the slister plugin folder, and when I delete SumatraPDF-settings.txt and open any PDF file in the lister through slister, this file is automatically created in this folder. In slister.ini I have no path definition, so slister looks for SumatraPDF.exe in his own folder.
