Installer improvements

hi all,
I'm using TC for many years now and I'm very satisfied.
Originally (Win95...) all folders were the same, but current Windows versions have certain security settings for \Program Files [ (x86) ] and different ones for user-specific data in \Users\xxx
Today's installer of TC (still) uses the original (outdated) UI and uses outdated settings: there is no (good) reason to want (or even allow) installation in a root-folder and put ini-files and user settings in the program folder...
 Suggestion: please use a modern, standard installer (NSIS, Inno, whatever) and stick to standard locations to put executables and user settings!
Alternatively/additionally: make it fully portable :D

thanks in advance, rgrds, Reinder

I think the 8 beta does install the config files in to app data, because I had to copy them out of the program folder and in to app data and then enable the setting so that it points the config files back to the program folder after copying them back in the program folder.

I agree a new installer package would like very nice and do this quality software justice. It just gives the user a bad first impression when they do not see the modern familiar setup software. But that would be personal preference and in does work. It would be nice when going from 7 to 8 if the users config file was copied to the new location automatically or it was left in the location it is and the software adapts to it.

But I would also like to see the 32bit and 64bit 8 beta to be combined in to one release. As now i have to download two version and install the individually.

Yes, on Win Vista and 7 app data is used by default ... BUT if your registry entries (of a former installation) point to \Program Files [ (x86) ], it will keep it.
