[TC 8.0 and 7.56a] Tabstop for Extension = 160

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC 8.0 and 7.56a] Tabstop for Extension = 160

Post by *LonerD »

Bug with Tabstops Extension. If I set in = 160px and select some fonts, then extensions shows after names, but not in right column.
I see it in 7.56a and still not fixed in 8.0Я4.
You can see this bug in small video:

Hello, LonerD.

You are sure that you have activated Configuration => Options => Tabstops => Show file extensions (*) Aligned (with tab) provided you want T.C. to display the extensions in a dedicated EXT column?

In case the NAME column is not wide enough to hold the complete filename the filename and the extension may simply appear to be displayed together. In this case either select a smaller font for the file list or increase the width of the NAME column.

Hm, even after watching your little movie, I am not quite sure what you are trying to tell us. The extensions were always displayed in the EXT column.

Cheers,
Karl

Yes, of cource. You can see it in video.
If I set "Aligned (with tab)" checked, but after closing the Total this setting is not saved.
In case the NAME column is not wide enough.....
I see this bug only with Tabstop = 160px.
If it =159 or 161, then extension is displayed in the right column.
160 - not enough, but 159 or 161 - enough??
The extensions were always displayed in the EXT column.
The extensions MUST always displayed in the EXT column. But in the video you can see that this setting does not work with some parametres after restart Total.

Hello, LonerD.

If I remember right what I saw was this:
After telling T.C. to display the extensions "aligned (with tab)", re-configuring the file panel columns width (tab sizes) and assigning a different font, the columns which are right of EXT, i.e. SIZE, DATE, ATTR, were no longer displayed in the two file panels.
Reason:
The sum of the configured tab width values was larger than the panel width. So far, so good.
If I remember right still, T.C. did not display any horizontal scrollbars in this situation. But if should do so if the columns are wider than the panel.

Is this the problem which you are after? - If so, then I can confirm and reproduce this problem using e.g. T.C. 8.0ß4 32-bit.
Yet, a tabwidth of 160 for the EXT column does not have any special effect here. I have to use much higher values. The exact values might simply depend on the screen size and the chosen screen resolution.

I can not reproduce the problem that T.C. does not remember the settings. It does do so here.

Kind regards,
Karl
