'Skip duplicates' option in MultiRename tool

Hi,

I often use the MultiRename tool to rename the JPG files downloaded from my camera to some meaningful name based on EXIF data (date_time.jpg). This works well, unless some of the pictures were taken so fast one after another, that their new names would be identical (same time within the same second). In this case the MultiRename tool displays a warning dialog and offers only two options:
- Go ahead and rename the files - then I guess that only the last shot in a series survives the rename operation
- Cancel the rename

If I have hundreds of photos to rename, it becomes tedious to look for the duplicates by hand.

I would appreciate, if a new option could be added to this dialog, which when selected whould cause the MultiRename tool to:
- Rename the files according to the selected pattern, SKIPPING the ones, for which the rename operation would lead to identical names
- Stay in the MultiRename tool with the SKIPPED files only, allowing the user to modify the pattern (e.g. by adding a counter) and retry the rename for the outstanding files.

What do you think about this idea?

When you get the warning, you can choose to rename anyway - TC then skips the duplicates. Then just change the name slightly, e.g. by appending an "a" or "2" and restart renaming.

Thanks, Christian. That will do the trick - I did not realize how it really worked :-)
