Minimizing TC to tray via Taskmgr when 'File not found'

Post by *DrShark »

To reproduce:
1. If not enabled in TC, go to Configuration->Operation and check the "Move icon to system tray when minimized" option.
2. (optional: reopen TC). Type name, that doesn't exist in current dir, in command line, press Enter key.
TC will show error box:

Code: Select all

---------------------------
Total Commander
---------------------------
File not found!
---------------------------
ОК
---------------------------
3. Start standard Task Manager, e.g. using Ctrl+Alt+Del,
then select Total Commander application in Taskmgr's Applications list. Open its context menu and select "Minimize" item.
Now you can't maximize/restore/close TC from system tray icon or via Alt+Tab&Enter. You even can't kill TC from Application list in Task Manager, you have to kill its process.
Edit: To minimize TC, taskmgr needs the same level or higher privileges.

Tested on TC 7.56a, TC 8.0 beta 3 & beta 9, both 32 bit & 64 bit.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit rus.
Theme: Aero (custom, made by Sony)
Edit: Tested also on Vista 32 bit with classic theme.

Sorry, this is a Windows bug that you get the "minimize" option in task manager. I will not do anythig about it, sorry.

You can restore TC by double clicking on the tray icon, and then single clicking on the TC icon in the task bar.

Unfortunately, that trick can help me only with 64 bit versions of TC. With TC 32bit, after double click on TC icon in system tray, an icon doesn't appear on taskbar.

OK, I found a better solution: Don't minimize to tray while there is any popup window over TC.

Is it possible to fix doubleclick on tray icon in TC 32 bit?

Will this solution implemented in TC, or it is just a suggestion to a user? Anyway, what when user want to minimize TC to system tray even with popup window in it? Currently it's possible via Task Manager.
