8.0ß11 - bug renaming files

Post by *HappyTCUser »

fire up tc, goto any file, right-click on it, select rename, press right arrow to get cursor placed on last character >> nothing happens, cursor dissappears, file is no longer highlighted, check mark is still there, but typing any letter does nothing.

repeating same operation without re-starting TC works as expected

it's a one time bug happening only on the first rename after strtup; after that, goes ok.

only tested on x64 version

Cannot reproduce the reported error using Total Commander 8.0ß11 32-bit.

Cannot confirm either. I got another bug, but inplace renaming remains active and working.

it's true. The bug reported in this thread for x64 doesn't happen exactly as described for x32.

x32 behaves diffrent than x64 and i was just about to report same bug reported by flint.

In both cases checkbox disappears when excess right keys are pressed. The diffrence is in x64, if you do this right after launching TC, the edit box also dissapears.

I can reproduce the described bug on:
Windows 7 64bit
TC 8.0 beta 11 64bit

The same behaviour occurs in the following scenario:

[No InplaceOkButton entry in wincmd.ini = default setting is used]

1. Run TC in not-maximized mode (i.e. not in Full-Screen).
2. Start a rename action (doesn't matter if with Shift-F6, left mouse button, or via context menu)
3. Grab and hold the TC window, move it as far as possible to the right OR to the left OR down (so that it will be partly outside the screen), and bring it back to center.

Result: the inplace-rename-box is disappeared, the check mark is still visible

[EDIT:]
The behaviour I described above does not occur with:
Windows Vista 32bit
TC 8.0 beta 11 32bit

So it seems to be related to the 64bit version only.

NOT confirmed.

Here just the confirm button disappears, as reported in

I could only now try to reproduce this bug again. What I found out:

It only occurs when "separate tree" is active. Without a separate tree this bug cannot be reproduced. So, updated steps would be:

Windows 7 64bit
TC 8.0 beta 11 64bit

1. Make sure that at least one "separate tree" is activated (Ctrl-Shift-F8 )
2. Run TC in not-maximized mode (i.e. not in Full-Screen)
3. Start a rename action (doesn't matter if with Shift-F6, left mouse button, or via context menu)
4. Grab and hold the TC window, move it as far as possible to the right OR to the left OR down (so that it will be partly outside the screen), and bring it back to center.

wollei,

very true, that's how i use TC, mostly: 1 pane and a tree on the left, like Explorer and that's precisely when the bug happens.

i knew i wasn't nuts

anyway, back to tc x32 waiting for the x64 fix
