TC32 8.0 beta 12 buttonbar reset

Post by *lebans »

After I installed beta 12 my buttonbar configuration was gone. Default.bar and default.br2 was overwritten by updating TC from beta 11 to beta 12. This is the first time I ever lost a part of my buttonbar-config after an update.

Rob

Yes, it happened here too. Was a nasty surprise - I was lucky enough to have a day old backup of my default.bar file, so I was able to restore. But still...

Hm… Not here. What is OS, and where is your default.bar stored?

I had a backup too. I have installed beta 11 to test, buttunbar not affected. After beta 12 installing again same error. Only default.bar and No.bar are overwritten.

edit:
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1u 64bit. TC 8 Beta 12 both 32 and 64 bit version. Install dir: c:\Program Files (x86)\Total Commander, wincmd in program dir.

Ok, a bit more of information:
TC installed > C:\totalcmd\
DEFAULT.BAR > TC directory
Wincmd.ini > TC directory (useiniprogram=7)
The installation of beta 12 was done while beta 11 was runnig.

I did the same installation on a XP SP3 (virtualbox) to compare to W7. Exact the same result, default.bar is overwritten.

[Edit] Why is the date of files 18-09-2011

For me, TC installed C:\totalcmd. Default.bar in TC folder. Wincmd.ini in C:\...\AppData\Roaming\GHISLER with all the other TC config files. This is all Win 7 64bit (32bit version of TC).

Installation was done while TC was running also (clicked the button to let the Beta 12 installer close TC).

The reason are the wrong file dates of *.bar files in TC installation package. Button bar files should have the time of 0:00 but in the recent installation package they have the time of 23:00...

and which nevertheless are clearly conceivable, and imply no contradiction,
how can one say they are absolutely impossible?" Leibniz

Are you sure? I did changed the date of these two files in the Cab File and installed again, but same result.

Update: Sorry I made files the same date, now I changed it to 01:00 AM. IT WORKED. You are right !!!!!!!

Sorry, this was indeed caused by the wrong dates! I have corrected it before putting the download link on www.ghisler.com (what's new), please check that it works OK now. The file names were slightly changed to tc80x64_beta12.exe and tc80x32_beta12.exe to avoid proxy/cache troubles.

Same here...

My buttonbar configuration (with more than 30 icons) has lost after upgrading to Total Commander 8.0 Beta 12 (from Beta 11).

Unfortunately i don't have a backup of it (shame on me), but nevermind, it was time to reorganize it, so... :P

OS: Win7SP1 (x86) | c:\totalcmd\default.bar

Edit: can't find the link for the new files... - nevermind, found the link. :D
Thanks for the quick fix, i just tried and the new version (with "d98ac0445ca16b2a3d5bfa35a03b3003" MD5 value) doesn't contains this issue.

Hello, Christian, hello, moderators.

Thread number 3 about this horrible timestamp problem affecting the initial release of T.C. 8.0ß12. Time to move the thread to the "Fixed Bugs" section.

Kind regards,
