unremovable mapped network drive

Post by *Dr. Boktor »

On my laptop, I mapped a network drive of my workstation, but it appears to be inaccesible (Total Commander hangs for over 15 minutes when I try to access that drive). I hava a button in the 'drive button bar' pointing to that share, but I am not able to remove that button. And I am also unable to change the path of that network drive to some other network drive.

I have some other network drives mapped to that same workstation, so I it should be possible to work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove that button / mapped network drive?

Some extra info:
- Total Commander 6.01
- When I remove all of my shares using the "net use /DELETE *" command, everything is removed and so there are no shares visible when I give a "net use" command subsequently. But in Total Commander, that single button does not go away with the other ones.

I hope someone can help me in this annoying thing, since even hovering over that button will cause Total Commander to hang for over 15 minutes...

Find the file 'default.bar' probably in your Total Commander directory. Open this file with a texteditor and search for the name of your netshare. There are 2 till 5 lines depending to each button: button??; cmd?? ; param??; path??; menu?? while ?? represent a number

For removing the button delete all those entries corresponding to the number you find at the start of the line where you found your netshare.

Then open your 'wincmd.ini'. There you will find an section beginning with [lefttabs] and one with [righttabs]. remove both.
Then there two sections [left] and [right].
one of them possibly contains either the netshare or the drive letter of your inaccessible drive. Replace it with c:\.

Now your TC work as desired.

Probably you're right, even then it's easy to help:
Point with your mouse to the undesired drivebutton and click right - then you can select 'disconnect' (I think this should be the english name of it ) and the drivebutton would disappear.

Sorry I misunderstood what you mean Dr.Boktor and thanks to you Claude.

Unfortunately that doesn't work, since even hovering over that button will cause a hang and after that nothing happens. But I will try your 'hack' described above...

 The problem is solved. Usually I hibernate my laptop, but for a change I restarted it and now that button is not there anymore. Thanx anyway for your help :)
