How does es file explorer do that? Normally other programs cannot access files on remote shares. Does it copy them to the SD-Card and then launch them?

Maybe it is using jcifs.

TC is using jcifs too, but jcifs doesn't allow to pass the downloaded data to other programs like mp3 players! Or does it play them internally with its own player?

Or it is demuxing the file and present it like a http video stream to other apps.

I have considered that too, but then each plugin would have to come with its own http server...

It is a very requested feature.
ES File explorer and FX File Explorer are doing it, also some video players like Dice Video Player and BS Player.

Sorry, currently it's not planned. TC is a file manager, not a media player.
