FTP move command

Post by *quantum »

There is a command with ws_ftp and cuteftp to "move" a file on the same server from one directory to another. This is done without needing two logins. Can I do this via the FTP feature of Total Commander?

2 sessions

:)  Hello,

 Unfortunately, that doesn't work if you press the "server-drive" button on the other side.
• I just made a test: TC-FTP asks for open a second session, in order to display the same server content in the other pannel.

• That'ld be a handy nice feature to get that you want for... But I don't know whether it could be added by the Author in a future version.

  Kind regards,
Claude

You can move files via Shift+F6 (rename/move) by specifying a new path, e.g. ../newname.ext .

Ahh. I knew about the renaming, but I didn't know it worked that way for FTP moves. That is a big help. Thanks.

Also if you want to move file locally (but FTP is in other pane) then do not use F6 but Shift+F6.
But that is easy trick, most people probably know this ;) .

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

:) Hi Roman !
• No Jeff here currently, but I confirm: mouse is handy to copy / move files with FTP, I uses that always to update my sites and so...

NOTE :!:

Be very carefull to use foreslashes (/) and not backslashes (\) when moving files this way - If you use a backslash the file simply dissapears - at least on the server (apache) where I've tried it :x
